A family owned and operated business employing seven-ten people, the company has been operating for three generations on Cape Sable Island in Shelburne County, Nova Scotia. It was founded in 1933 by Eugene Newell, then in 1981 passed it on to his son, Borden, who ran the company until 1999 and is still actively involved in the business. The company is now run by grandson, Robbie Newell.
